The Costa de la Luz
(Coast of light) is the western part of the
Andalucía coastline that faces out to the
Atlantic. The sand is finer and a more golden
colour than the neighbouring Costa del Sol.
The typical beaches
here are more expansive, they are backed by sand
dunes along with native foliage and pine trees.
This part of the coast has not seen the
high-rise hotel development of other areas.
The temperatures are
slightly milder and the Atlantic winds and waves
are favoured by wind surfers and surfboarders
alike. |

The eastern section is the
coastline of the province of Cádiz. From North to South
this is an interesting section of the coast line. There
is
Sanlucar de
Barrameda with its
golden sands overlooking the River Guadalquivir and
Donaña Natioinal Park.
Further south, around the
small villages of
Chipiona
and Rota (often remembered by Americans for the Military
Base) we find fine beaches. The town El Puerto de Santa
Maria is famous for its restaurants serving succulent
king prawns washed down with chilled Manzanilla wine.
The historic walled city of
Cadiz is built on a Peninsular jutting into the bay of
Cadiz. The isthmus joining the mainland exhibits miles
of beaches and the Bay of Cadiz is a natural park.

This
heavenly coast of the south is
surrounded by dozens of beautiful
beaches where the sun always shines.
Totally unspoilt by mass tourism and
over development. A place which was
designed to provide an escape for those
searching for sun and active tourism. A
big temptation for those who are keen on
virgin beaches and exotic environment,
as well as sport and culture activities.
All this and more, even the most
demanding traveller will be satisfied
with the quality and the beauty of the
beaches.
From the port of "Puerto del Terron" to
the central beach of Isla Cristina, you
can choose your particular oasis,
walking along a sandy beach of several
kilometres with changing names like La
Casita Azul, La Redondela or Punta Del
Caiman among others.
From the ocean walk of Islantilla,
walking along landscaped paths and dunes
you always get to a fantastic beach.
Between huge palm trees and a balustrade
you approach the Atlantic Ocean. Behind
you, you can see a hillside with
beautiful apartments and houses. |
